Basilippo Gourmet

Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil, limited edition to the first days of harvest (13 September – 23 September 2023) from our Hacienda Merrha, in the land of Los Alcores (Seville). To produce 1 liter, more than 13 kilos of olives were needed (the usual amount would be 5 kg). In this way we can obtain an Extra Virgin Gourmet at the expense of quantity.

TASTING NOTES 2023 – 2024

Type Extra Virgin Olive Oil, green and intense fruity, with some ripe touches.

Nose Reminiscences of green fruit with certain ripeness, especially banana and apple. Hints of herbaceous, grass, with a nutty finish.

Mouth Sweet entry with some bitterness and an intense spiciness, appearing delayed and increasing. The same memories appear as in the nose, with a nutty (and particularly green, unripe almond, “alloza”) finish.

Notes Complex.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Breakfast, aperitif (bread), green salads, grilled fish, boiled vegetables, pasta salads.

Basilippo Selección Arbequina

Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Arbequina olives grown in the land of Los Alcores (Sevilla) and harvested at the optimum time of ripeness (“envero”). In order to obtain one liter, 8-9 kg are needed (the usual amount would be 5 kg), thus achieving the best ratio between quality and quantity.

TASTING NOTES 2023 – 2024

Type Both green and ripe fruity, low intense.

Nose Reminiscences mainly of green and ripe fruits, especially banana and apple. Hints of vegetables, such as tomato, and spices like paprika.

Mouth Very sweet entry with some bitterness and a medium-low spiciness appearing delayed and increasing. The same memories appear as in the nose, plus a nutty finish and slight astringency.

Notes Complex.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Seafood salads, cold soups (Salmorejo etc), creams, desserts, duck foie, mayonnaise and mild sauces, especially for children.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Picual green olives grown in the Hacienda “La Merced” of Basilippo, in the land of Los Alcores (Alcalá de Guadaira), and harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripeness (“envero”).

In order to obtain one liter, 10 kg of olives were needed (the usual amount would be 5 kg), thus obtaining the best quality/quantity ratio.

TASTING NOTES 2023 – 2024

Type Extra Virgin Olive Oil, green and intense fruity.

Nose Green fruity with slight ripeness. Hints of herbaceous, olive leaf and vegetable, such as tomato plant and the tomato itself. Hints of fruits, especially apple, and of aromatic herbs such as thyme, fresh oregano, and other typical Mediterranean scrubland plants.

Mouth Sweet entry with a medium bitterness with astringency and a medium spiciness that permeates the whole mouth, both well balanced. It has the same memories as in the nose, especially of olive leaf and tomato.

Notes Complex and besides a touch of aromatic herbs and typical Mediterranean spices.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Vegetables (carrots, asparagus, etc), cheeses, green sauces, bread (breakfast, aperitifs, etc), salmorejo.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil Coupage of Manzanilla and Arbequina varieties grown in our organic olive groves Pago Cerros Blancos in Carmona (Seville) and harvested by hand at the optimal time of ripeness.

Grown and produced under Organic Certification, it is presented in a bottle dedicated to our grandfather, Antonio Ruiz, who appears in the background contemplating his work at dawn while thinking that perhaps one day, he will be able to enjoy the fruit of his olive grove in a bottle.

TASTING NOTES 2023 – 2024

Type Extra Virgin Olive Oil, green and intense fruity.

Nose Reminiscent mainly of green herbaceous and flowering grass, with hints of olive leaf and tomato plant, added to a strong memory of artichoke. Furthermore, it also has hints of fruits such as banana or banana peel, with notes of apple and green, unripe almond (“alloza”).

Mouth It presents a slightly sweet entry and a medium bitterness of 4.5 out of 10 that persists and a spiciness of 4, which increases and remains. The oil leaves the mouth fresh with a slight astringency. It also remembers to vegetables and herbaceous, with slight fruity touches.

Notes Complex, with a mixture of flavors and scents of herbaceous, fruits and vegetables.

Dressings (potato, tomato, etc), grilled vegetables, pasta dishes, barbecue, game meat, marinades and strong sauces.

Type Fruity citrus.

Nose Very intense and fresh aroma of orange peel and orange blossom. Hints of banana and apple.

Mouth Very sweet and smooth. No bitterness or spiciness, intense and persistent citrus finish.

Aftertaste Almond, orange marmalade.

Ideal with fruit salads, smoked fish, grilled seafood, chocolate, berries ice cream, seafood salads, fruit skewers, bread with honey.
