History

Basilippo means “Forest of the moon village”, it is believed that this Tartessian city
(Bronze Age, 10th-6th centuries BC) was located between the towns of El Viso del Alco
and Carmona in the province of Seville. The Tartessians had an intense relationship with the Acebuche
(wild olive tree) because of the multiple benefits of its fruit, the olive.

The culture of the olive tree and oil is present in Basilippo from its name and philosophy to the logo that characterises it,
the silhouette of a panathenaic amphora. These vessels, of great artistic value, were used to reward
reward the winners of the Panathenaic Games (precursors of the Olympic Games) which were held in Greece in honour of the Goddess Athena.
Amphorae filled with oil from sacred olive res symbolised the most valuable gift that could be offered.
